Tim Newton, a photographer, was woken up by sounds coming from his back porch.

Tim’s job meant that he always had a camera close at hand. He decided to bring it with him on his investigation.

Tim told local NBC station KTUU Channel 2 News, “I crept over to the window and opened the curtains a little bit. I could see that it looked like a cat.” “I stopped giving it much thought,” he said. “But then I saw that it had huge feet and tiny hairs on its ears. So I knew it wasn’t a full-grown cat, but most likely a lynx kitten.”

“Because I’m behind the screen, they’re not sure if there’s anything close,” he said. “They can hear my camera, though. That is the picture where they are standing on the deck. They are watching the noise.”

Tim told the whole story on his Facebook page,

Last week, Tim was woken up by sounds on our deck. He went outside to see what was going on. He took out his camera because he couldn’t believe what he saw. Can you believe it? Mama Lynx and her SEVEN kittens!! She called to them, and they all lined up right in front of where he was standing (he was inside the screen door!). Amazing ALASKA WILD LIFE!!! They then ran around and played on our deck and in our yard!

He says that they were playing on the deck. “And those cats were running, crouching, and playing with each other. For about 30 minutes, they just went back and forth across that deck. From this, I’ve come to the conclusion that lynx spend about 1% of their time chasing rabbits and the other 98% chasing each other.
