On her 88th birthday last year, she talked about how she got her most famous TV role, Jeannie, instead of a bunch of tall brunettes.
She says of the 1965 casting call, “They were looking for the most beautiful brunettes in town.” “Well, they were all fitness girls, right? Six feet high! Dark hair! Great bodies! So I thought, “Well, I’m the short blonde, so I’m out.” She got the part of Jeannie when she was 34 years old and made history with this timeless classic.
