After meeting and quickly falling deeply in love, a couple in their centenarian years decided to exchange vows at the courthouse, just months after their initial encounter.

This heartwarming story deviates from the norm, as it features not a young, starry-eyed couple, but rather two individuals well into their hundreds.

John and Phyllis Cook reside in the Kingston Residence senior living community in Sylvania, Ohio. Despite living just one floor apart, they found each other and developed a deep bond.

Phyllis, who will turn 103 this summer, shared with WNWO, “To be honest, we fell in love with each other. I know you might think that’s a bit unrealistic at our age, but we did fall in love.”

John, a 100-year-old WWII veteran, explained, “Well, we were just compatible in a lot of ways and found ourselves enjoying each other’s company.”

Both widowed after two prior marriages, they found solace and companionship in each other’s presence. When asked about their favorite activities together, John responded coyly, “Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about that.”

On the other hand, Phyllis was more forthcoming, stating, “Neither he nor I are entirely devoid of romantic feelings!” She emphasized her Christian values, saying, “I just don’t believe in hopping in bed unless you’re married.”

John promised to make Phyllis his lawful wife, leading them to the courthouse to obtain a marriage certificate. Surprisingly, they ended up walking out of the courtroom as husband and wife. John expressed his eagerness, saying, “It wasn’t planned, but when we arrived, they said we could marry you here. I said, ‘Good, let’s get it over with.'”

With Phyllis’ mother having lived to the remarkable age of 106, it seems that the couple may have good genes on their side for many more happy years together. Their story serves as a testament to the fact that love knows no age limits, and one can always find companionship and happiness anew.Despite their deep connection, Phyllis assures that they will each maintain their own apartment, acknowledging the importance of personal space in their relationship. Rushing into any changes seems unnecessary when they have all the time in the world ahead of them.
