In footage from The Morning Show, Jennifer Aniston’s character is seen dousing herself in fake oil.

The American TV drama The Morning Show, available on Apple TV+, explores the competitive world of morning television and tackles current events like the #MeToo movement and the coronavirus pandemic.

In the trailer for the upcoming fourth season, protesters throw oil at Aniston’s character, Alex Levy.

The show received a renewal for a fourth season before the third season even premiered.

On July 8, Aniston posted an Instagram selfie with co-star Reese Witherspoon, indicating that production for the new season had begun.

Photographs and videos of Aniston, in costume, getting oil thrown over her on the production site have surfaced online.

A TikTok video, which later circulated on Twitter, shows Aniston on set, standing in front of demonstrators who appear to be climate activists.

Protesters hold placards that read ‘Truth Warrior’, and suddenly, fake oil is thrown at Aniston from the right.

Fans of the show quickly took to social media to comment on the situation, with many confused by the clip, not realizing it was filmed on set for the TV series.

“People are protesting big oil spills on Jennifer Aniston, and she looks bewildered and scared,” a Twitter user wrote. “Why do you believe they targeted her?”

Another added, “What was the motivation behind their actions?”

However, if you listen to the end of the tape, you can hear the word ‘cut’, indicating that the scene was scripted for the series.

A second user commented, “It’s acting.”

“That’s from the show, dude,” a third person added. “In a longer version of the video, you can hear ‘cut’ at the end, and everyone breaks.”

A fourth resolution stated, “The fact that some people thought this was real is extremely concerning.”

Apple TV+ has yet to confirm a release date for season four of The Morning Show, but with production underway, it is projected to premiere in 2025.
