Ingrid Andress’s recent performance of the national anthem at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, garnered significant criticism.

Although she began the song in a traditional manner, her performance soon faltered, leading to missed notes and visible reactions from players, including a wry grin from Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm.

The public response was overwhelmingly negative, with comparisons drawn to Fergie’s famously criticized rendition from the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Comments ranged from “I think we all owe Fergie an apology” to claims that the performance was “one of the worst national anthems I’ve ever heard.”

In response to the backlash, Andress admitted on social media that she was intoxicated during the performance. She apologized to MLB, fans, and the country, and announced that she was checking into a facility for help. She ended her post with a light-hearted remark about rehab.
