Heartbreaking Tragedy: Cherished Celebrity Passes Away Following Encounter with Dust Devil During Skydiving Dive

Skydiving legend Freddy Chase has shared the devastating news of his wife Devrey Jane LaRiccia-Chase’s passing through a touching tribute.

Devrey Jane LaRiccia-Chase, who was his partner for 28 years, tragically died in a severe accident. Since her death, Chase has opened up about the circumstances surrounding her passing. LaRiccia-Chase was a devoted skydiving instructor based in California.

Chase, well-known for his exhilarating videos, addressed the situation on his Instagram story.

“Hey everyone,” he began. “I want to express my gratitude for the love and support I’ve received over the past few days and the days to come because of this tragic event.”

He then recounted the events leading to her death.

“Devrey was thrilled to start her new position at Skydive Perris. On that fateful day, she was a tandem instructor and completed her last jump with a student. It was just another routine skydive for her.”

“Her canopy was on its final approach, landing safely on the grass, just as she had done countless times before. There were no issues with the plane or any other equipment.”

“She encountered what we call ‘dust devils’—small, dangerous tornadoes that are hard to spot when they’re over grass.”

“At around 40 feet, Devrey avoided one dust devil but was caught by another. Dust devils can be difficult to see because they don’t always stir up visible dust.”

Chase explained that this led to her canopy spinning uncontrollably.

He shared that LaRiccia-Chase was still alive but unconscious when she hit the ground and sadly passed away at the hospital from her injuries.

Chase had initially shared a video of his late wife but later removed it, saying it felt “too close to her death.”

“I loved that perfect girl,” he concluded.

Before announcing her passing, Chase had posted a heartfelt tribute to his wife on Instagram.

“My soul, my love, my other half, my baby, my ride or die, my everything, my wife…” Chase wrote about Devrey.

Since her passing, Chase has been sharing many photos and videos of his wife on his Instagram Stories.
