Police in Nashville are praising rock legend Jon Bon Jovi for his quick thinking and compassion after he helped a woman off the ledge of the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on Tuesday night. According to a statement from the Nashville Metro Police Department posted on their X page, Bon Jovi “helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
Nashville Police Chief John Drake emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure each other’s safety. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Video footage released by the Nashville Metro Police Department shows Bon Jovi, who was filming a music video on the bridge, noticing the woman in distress. Accompanied by an unidentified person, he is seen talking to her and eventually helping her back over the ledge. The singer then embraces her, offering support and comfort.
Bon Jovi’s involvement in the situation aligns with his long-standing commitment to crisis intervention through his JBJ Soul Foundation, which works to combat hunger, poverty, and homelessness.
