Selena Gomez, star of Only Murders in the Building, is currently dating musician Benny Blanco and has openly shared her hopes of starting a family in the future.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that the couple isn’t feeling any pressure to marry, choosing instead to focus on protecting their relationship. “There are no rules,” Gomez stated, emphasizing her desire to always remain true to herself.

Reflecting on her role as godmother to her cousin’s children, Gomez opened up about her inability to carry her own. She shared, “I’ve never said this before, but I have several medical issues that would put both my life and the baby’s life at risk.”

Gomez has spoken about her health challenges in the past, beginning with her lupus diagnosis in 2014 and leading to a kidney transplant in 2017. In an episode of Dear… on Apple TV+, she described her lupus diagnosis as ‘surreal,’ recalling how doctors warned her that she was at risk of having a stroke while on her first solo tour.

Although she had to grieve the loss of being able to carry her children—something she had always envisioned—Gomez expressed that she’s come to terms with it. “I’m in a much better place with that now,” she said.

She now sees surrogacy and adoption as beautiful paths to motherhood, saying, “I’m blessed that there are wonderful people who can help with surrogacy or adoption.

I’m curious to see what that journey will be like, even if it’s different from what I imagined. In the end, I don’t care. It will be my baby.”
