Age differences in relationships frequently become topics of discussion, especially when it comes to celebrity couples. While many choose to remain silent on the subject, Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick are taking a different approach by addressing it openly.

Melanie, who has been in a relationship with the 81-year-old Rolling Stones legend, revealed that she doesn’t let public opinions affect her. “I don’t think about [the age gap],” she said. “People will always have opinions, but if you focus on them, you’ll drive yourself crazy.”

For some, such a large age difference might pose challenges, but for Melanie, 37, and Mick, it has never been an issue. In a candid interview with The Sunday Times, Melanie shared that the age gap has never been a concern for her.

“I focus on what matters,” she said. “Am I happy? Yes. Is everyone around me happy? Yes. If I’m not hurting anyone, they can mind their own business.”

Together since 2014, the couple welcomed their son, Deveraux, in 2016, who is now 7 years old. Melanie, a former ballerina, is currently exploring a career in writing, with Mick providing his full support.

Her books draw inspiration from her ballet background, and Mick, who enjoys reading them, offers his feedback. Melanie humorously recalled, “[Mick] said, ‘You use the word throbbing a lot in book two.'”

Reflecting on their first encounter at a Rolling Stones concert in 2014, Melanie noted that she wasn’t starstruck. “Ballet dancers are used to meeting stars, but for us, ballet dancers are the true idols,” she said.
