Valerie Bertinelli Confirms New Relationship on Instagram
After previously indicating she was no longer available, Valerie Bertinelli has now revealed she has a new boyfriend, sharing the happy news on Instagram. This comes after experiencing heartbreak from past relationships.
The 63-year-old actress and TV personality made things official last Friday by posting a selfie with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song So High School, a track speculated to reference the singer’s romance with Travis Kelce. The post arrived two years after Bertinelli finalized her divorce from Tom Vitale and four years following the passing of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen.
Captioning her photo, Bertinelli wrote, “I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smokin’ your jokes all damn night.”
Meet Valerie’s New Partner
According to Entertainment Tonight, Bertinelli’s new boyfriend is writer Mike Goodnough, widely recognized by his online persona, The Hoarse Whisperer.
Earlier this month, Bertinelli hinted at her new romance in an interview with USA TODAY, saying, “I’ve met someone, and I’m incredibly grateful for him.”
She went on to describe the relationship as unlike anything she’s ever experienced, adding, “I feel so lucky to have met him, but I don’t want to share too much. Honestly, I was prepared to live out my life happily with just my six cats and dog.”
Goodnough Confirms the Romance
In a Substack essay titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…”, Goodnough playfully confirmed the dating speculation. He shared that he jokingly asked Bertinelli in a mock-reporter style, “Is there any truth to the rumor that you’re dating me? Would you like to comment?”
Bertinelli’s response was simple yet heartfelt: “It’s true. Yes, I am. You are my partner in life.”
A Look Back at Love and Loss
Bertinelli recently opened up about her past marriage to Eddie Van Halen in her cookbook, Indulge, which was released on April 12. She wrote, “Ed and I never stopped loving each other, even though we got divorced.” She also reflected on what might have been, saying, “Who knows, if not for cancer, we might have had a second wind,” though she acknowledged it was just wishful thinking.
As for her connection with Goodnough, Bertinelli revealed that she started following him on social media around 2016 or 2017, with him following back in 2018. After her divorce from Tom Vitale in 2022, the two began exchanging messages, and their bond grew from there.
Describing Goodnough, she said, “He’s incredibly talented and really, really funny.”
Love Finds Her Again
In a recent interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Bertinelli shared, “I’m in love. I truly thought I would never fall in love again. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions.”
Though she never expected to fall in love again, it’s clear she’s found happiness—and we couldn’t be happier for her! ❤️
