A Woman Who Grew a Beard After Giving Birth Finally Finds a Cure: “I’m Finally Happy”
Svetlana had always dealt with hair growth on her face and chest, but after giving birth to her son, the condition worsened dramatically. She noticed that her facial hair grew at an alarming rate, leaving her feeling embarrassed and self-conscious. Eventually, she couldn’t leave the house without wearing a face mask, and this deeply affected her relationship with her husband.
For years, she avoided intimacy, refusing to let her husband kiss her because she felt disgusted by her appearance. Despite seeking medical help, doctors were unable to pinpoint the cause of her condition, leaving Svetlana feeling hopeless and miserable.
Determined to find a solution, her husband encouraged her to share her story on the Russian TV show I’m Ashamed of My Body. Desperate for answers, Svetlana appeared on the program, where a team of specialists took on her case.
After undergoing multiple medical evaluations and treatments, Svetlana was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition known to cause excessive hair growth, also known as hirsutism. She received laser therapy, was prescribed a specialized steroid treatment to regulate her hormones, and was advised to lose more than 30 pounds to improve her overall health.
A year after beginning treatment, Svetlana finally saw remarkable changes. Speaking about her transformation, she shared, “After years of hiding, I can now walk outside with my chin up. I’m finally happy. My son feels it too—we hug freely now, and he can touch my face.”
Now free from the shame that once controlled her life, Svetlana enjoys a renewed bond with her husband and son, embracing the happiness she thought she had lost forever.
