Dyan Cannon proves that age is no obstacle to enjoying life!
At 88, the actress lit up the red carpet at the 10th Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards on Sunday, April 6, and opened up to PEOPLE about her current dating life.
When asked if she was seeing anyone, Cannon responded enthusiastically, “Absolutely.”
She shared that she’s currently involved with “someone special,” and then added with a smile, “Actually, a few special people… I’ve got friends with benefits.”
Cannon also looked back on her past romance with the iconic Johnny Carson. A recent CBS Sunday Morning segment, The Hidden Side of Johnny Carson, highlighted Carson’s life and his relationship with Cannon, including her memorable appearances on his show.
Since the special aired, Cannon says she’s been hearing about it nonstop.
“Everyone keeps bringing up Johnny Carson,” she told PEOPLE. “They’re airing it again and again.”
Cannon admits she enjoyed getting under Carson’s skin during her talk show visits. “I liked rattling him. It’s fun to shake up someone who’s not easily shaken, right?” she said, revealing that their romance was kept under wraps at the time. “He loved that secrecy. He really enjoyed it. We’d go to restaurants where they’d shut the whole place down just for him.”
Reflecting fondly, she added, “He was a remarkable man. I’ve known quite a few incredible men—and I’m sure there are more ahead.”
Beyond her legendary film career, which includes Academy Award-nominated roles in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) and Heaven Can Wait (1978), Cannon is also an accomplished filmmaker and stage performer. She’s known for her roles on television in Full Circle during the early 1960s and Ally McBeal in the late ’90s.
Cannon was famously married to Cary Grant from 1965 to 1968, and the couple had one daughter, Jennifer Grant, born in 1966. She later wed attorney and real estate investor Stanley Fimberg in 1985, though they divorced in 1991.
