We often think we know everything about our partners—but sometimes, they surprise us. One woman recently shared a small secret she’s been keeping from her husband.

While the couple was out to dinner at a restaurant, her phone battery started to die, so she turned it off to save power. Later, on the drive home, she panicked when she couldn’t find her phone. She searched her purse and the car thoroughly, but it was nowhere to be found. In a moment of panic, she convinced her husband to drive an hour back to the restaurant.

Once there, the manager kindly helped them look around. Her husband, though clearly annoyed, joined the search. In the middle of all the chaos, she reached into her jacket pocket—and to her shock, there was the phone. It had been with her the entire time.

Too embarrassed to admit what had happened, she decided to keep it to herself. Feeling guilty for dragging her husband all the way back, she said, “I just didn’t want to own up to it.” Instead, she excused herself to the restroom and came back with a made-up explanation, claiming, “It was on the toilet tank.”

To this day, her husband still doesn’t know the truth—that the phone had been in her pocket the whole time. To avoid further embarrassment, she’s chosen to keep that little secret to herself.
