This uplifting performance during the Britain’s Got Talent finals captivated the audience—even though it wasn’t part of the competition lineup.
Inspired by the beloved 1992 film Sister Act, the musical first premiered in California before making its way to London’s West End in 2009 and then to Broadway in 2011.
The story follows Deloris Van Cartier, a nightclub singer—famously portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg—who goes into hiding in a convent through a witness protection program. While there, she revitalizes the convent’s choir and empowers the nuns to discover their voices and confidence. The film’s hilarious success led to the creation of the musical.
Judging by this incredible performance, the upcoming West End revival looks very promising. The show features Keala Settle, known for her powerful performance in The Greatest Showman.
