Back in the early 1960s, the Twist—known for its energetic hip shaking and swinging arms—was seen as quite risqué. But over time, it became a beloved dance move across generations. One group of 11 dancers, mostly older adults, brought the spirit of the Twist back to life with an impressive line dance routine that’s sure to make you smile.
Choreographed by Karen Tripp, the routine featured ten graceful women and one man, all dancing to Chubby Checker’s iconic hit, “Let’s Twist Again.” It’s one of the most recognizable songs tied to the Twist, and Karen’s choice couldn’t have been more perfect.
Labeled as “Very Basic Line Dancing,” the choreography covered 32 counts and rotated through four walls. The tempo was just right—challenging enough to keep it interesting but still totally doable for dancers of all ages.
And make no mistake—this group knows what they’re doing. In the video, you’ll see them clapping, sliding from side to side, spinning, and of course, twisting in style. It’s a delightful reminder that dancing doesn’t age—and honestly, how many people today could keep up with them?
Despite the moves being full of twisty flair, the performance was polished, spirited, and wonderfully fun. Viewers agree: these dancers nailed it.
