Christopher Schwarzenegger has recently spoken out about his path to weight loss, revealing that the process unfolded gradually over more than five years.
Now 27, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver shared his personal experience during a panel discussion held on May 10, 2025, at the first-ever Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles.
Sitting alongside his mother, television personality Kelly Osbourne, and event host Jeff Beacher, Christopher opened up about how his weight had once limited him from enjoying routine aspects of life.
“I began my journey back in 2019 while living in Australia,” he explained. “I had envisioned this big adventure—really hyped it up in my mind, thinking I’d be out exploring and making the most of my time there. But what I realized was that my weight was seriously restricting what I could do.”
One moment in particular stood out to him. “I said, ‘I want to go skydiving,’ and my friends were like, ‘Yeah, no chance.’ And I just had to admit, ‘Yeah, I can’t do that.’”
Christopher also shared that his weight had been a concern for many years, even dating back to his high school days, when he experimented with bringing his own specially-prepared meals to school in hopes of eating more healthfully.
“I tried a lot of things,” he said. “In high school, I was doing those meal delivery services, and I remember feeling awkward carrying these strange lunches around campus.”
He made it clear that his transformation was anything but fast or easy. “This doesn’t happen overnight. It was a process of trial and error,” he admitted. “Honestly, I don’t even feel like I’ve reached the ‘after’ phase yet. I’m still working on it.”
Public interest in Christopher’s transformation surged last month when he was photographed during a dinner outing in West Hollywood, dressed in a slim-fitting navy-blue shirt and khaki pants while spending time with his brother, Patrick Schwarzenegger.
At the summit, Christopher also shared how a decision he made during Lent played a major role in accelerating his weight loss.
“Oddly enough, it all started when I gave up bread for Lent,” he revealed. “I don’t know if anyone here is Catholic, but I took that commitment seriously.”
He added, “I thought, ‘Well, if I’m already giving up bread, I might as well take advantage of this moment.’ And being a good Catholic guy, I stuck with it.” That single act of dedication resulted in him dropping 30 pounds in less than two months.
