Iran has vowed strong retaliation following U.S. strikes on three of its nuclear facilities over the weekend—an operation personally authorized by President Donald Trump that has drawn swift and intense criticism from Tehran.

On Saturday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a firm statement condemning the attacks as a clear violation of international law, warning that the repercussions would be long-lasting.

Posting on X, Araghchi accused the United States—a permanent member of the UN Security Council—of committing a grave violation of the UN Charter, international norms, and the Non-Proliferation Treaty by targeting what he described as peaceful nuclear sites.

Calling the strike “outrageous,” he said it not only endangered global security but also set a dangerous precedent for international conduct.

“These actions will not go unanswered,” he said. “All members of the United Nations should be alarmed by this reckless and unlawful aggression.”

Araghchi emphasized that Iran is prepared to respond, invoking the UN Charter’s self-defense provisions and stressing that the country will use every available means to defend its sovereignty and protect its people.
