Families often fight over a loved one’s belongings, and sometimes the conflict gets so intense that the people meant to inherit don’t end up agreeing on anything.

One woman shared a story about her mother and what happened when her estate was divided after her passing.

She explained that she had been the one caring for her sick mother. “Mom was always my best friend, so of course I wanted to be there for her through everything,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, her greedy brother and aunts rarely visited unless they wanted something—usually money to help them pay their bills.

As her mother’s health slowly declined, one aunt even tried to use her “connections” to find a new house, assuming the mother’s real estate business would help them get a good deal. “They were so shameless,” the woman added.

Then, her mother passed away.

When the day of the will reading arrived, she suddenly remembered the date. Her brother, her aunts, and her mother’s lawyer were all seated together—almost like something out of a Hallmark movie.

She sat there sipping weak tea from a chipped teacup as the lawyer announced the shocking news: her mother had decided to leave her entire $5 million in savings to her brother and her aunts.

She struggled to understand what she was hearing and forced herself to swallow her tea. She had been left nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Tears began streaming down her face, staining her skirt with mascara. Meanwhile, her brother and aunts could barely hide their satisfied smiles.
