During a performance by Lisette Oropesa, an unexpected moment turned into something truly unforgettable when opera student Liu Jianwei noticed that the tenor part of “Sempre libera” was missing.
Without hesitation, the 24-year-old student began singing from his seat, confidently filling in the missing part. What started as a spontaneous interruption quickly transformed into a beautiful, unplanned duet that caught both Oropesa and the audience completely by surprise.
Oropesa, the Cuban-American soprano, was performing her fourth encore at Italy’s Teatro Regio di Parma when the unexpected moment happened. Instead of stopping, she welcomed the surprise and encouraged Liu to keep going. As he finished the passage, Oropesa appeared genuinely touched and thanked him warmly.
Liu, a student at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Nicolini di Piacenza, later admitted that he worried he might have crossed a line by joining the performance without being invited. But Oropesa clearly saw it differently.
Afterward, she happily met the young singer, posed for a photo with him, and even signed an autograph.
What could have been an awkward interruption became a magical moment shared between two musicians—and the clip soon spread across the internet, attracting millions of views and reminding everyone that some of the most unforgettable moments on stage are the ones nobody plans. ❤️🎶
