Kim Guiley, a California mother, had some intuitive concerns regarding her second pregnancy when she found out she was expecting. Guiley gave birth naturally at home, and everything was going swimmingly until one crucial moment.

Guiley was confident she was going to have a little girl for the duration of her pregnancy. She and her spouse, Travis, spent nine months planning a girl’s arrival and naming her.

When Guiley’s mother saw her newborn in July during normal birth, she couldn’t believe it.

“I just expected something different when I peered between his legs.” She told Inside Edition, “I was in full amazement – I was startled.” “We had girl’s names; we went back and forth on girl’s names.”

Guiley thought she was having a girl until she found out she was having a boy, as evidenced by her gaping look. Photographer Susannah Gill captured the moment of wonder, and Guiley later shared it on Instagram and wrote about it on her blog, Santa Cruz Family Doula Collective.

«This is the moment we found Theo’s sex, after a lifetime of fantasizing for one of each, but months of feeling so firmly that we were having another girl,» she wrote.

Guiley had already miscarried a baby girl called Hazel for the couple. They intended to keep the gender a secret after the miscarriage.
