Sam Elliott is a famous actor with a deep voice who has been in a lot of movies that people love. He is now on the A-List, but he had to work hard and give up a lot to get there.
Even though his father said “That kid doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell” about his acting career, the actor kept going. Elliott first worked in construction to make money while he was looking for acting jobs. He eventually got a job working on the house of an assistant director, who then brought him to the attention of people in charge at Universal Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter says that this would get his acting career off to a great start.
He got his first part in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” which was a small one. After that, he started getting TV roles. His big break came in 1978 with the movie “Lifeguard,” which led to a part in “The Legacy.” Elliott’s life changed when he met his wife, Katherine Ross, who is still his partner today.
The couple had a baby girl, Cleo Rose, and Sam had to work and take care of his family at the same time. In 1985, he played Cher’s biker boyfriend in the movie “The Mask,” which starred Cher. From then on, he often played cowboys or Western characters in movies like “Tombstone” and “The Big Lebowski.”
Then, in 2019, the 74-year-old was nominated for the best supporting actor Oscar for his work in “A Star Is Born.” He didn’t win that night, but he told Deadline, “It’s really about the work; it’s just about the creative process.” It’s great to be recognized for that, and that’s really all it’s about.”
From starting out as a builder to getting a nomination for an Oscar. Sam Elliott’s long career in Hollywood may have been hard at times, but all his hard work has paid off.
