In the US, there is no paid maternity leave for the first 15 months. Melody was still nursing her baby, so she didn’t want to leave her just yet.

She had to go back to work right after giving birth because she didn’t have enough money. This is a common story in the United States, where having a child is seen as a costly pleasure. Without benefits and social security, one parent has to stay home and care for the kids. Not everyone has enough money to hire a nanny or send their child to a preschool (kindergarten, nursery, or preparatory class).

Mom has to think about work on top of not getting enough sleep, stress, and anxiety. In the United States, it’s not common to bring kids to work. In fact, bosses are so focused on getting things done that they look down on any kind of weakness. One of them is being a mother.

But mom Melody’s boss Jett Blackwell let her bring her new baby to work with her.

Melody and her daughter were sitting at the table when her boss walked by and took a picture of them. Daughter was sleeping, and Melody put the phone to her ear and leaned back in her office chair. The manager chose to share the picture on Facebook.

“Working Moms” is what he wrote.
It looks so simple from the outside. It helps that Nora-Jo is so nice and happy when her mother is around.

Could you share this so that as many small and large businesses as possible understand how important it is to have a mother and her child around? The months of a baby’s life go by quickly. (Melody works from home most of the time, but she comes when we need help. She’s still feeding the baby, and the baby needs a mom! She gets a lot of breaks at the office to feed her baby.)

Melody knows that she can’t always work with a child in her arms, and she’s very happy to be able to support her family by working at this company. Still, though, more employers need to be more flexible with working moms.

Also, some parents can’t stay home with their kids because they can’t afford to.
