In the small city of Walled Lake, Michigan, a single mother, her two twin daughters, and a police sergeant who made a huge difference in their lives shared an amazing story of kindness and compassion.

Erin Harrison was a single mom with two twin girls, Hayden and Abbigale. She had just been kicked out of her home because she couldn’t pay her rent. Erin was desperate and thought her only choice was to sleep in her car with her two children because she had no family to help support them.

Sergeant Heather Kolke, who was out patrolling the city, was lucky enough to hear Erin’s story. As a mother herself, she felt sorry for Erin’s situation and decided to help.

Kolke started asking people for money to help the family so that they could stay in a hotel. She was shocked by how quickly the community came together to help Erin and her two daughters.

The clothes, household items, and money that the locals gave added up to more than $2,500. One kind person even offered to give the twins $1,000 to buy new clothes and other things they will need when they find a new home.

Eddie Osram is a local business owner, and he and his family gave the Harrison family their allowance savings, which added up to $341. Osram had been through similar things as a child, and he wanted to help in any way he could.

The community’s incredible kindness did not go unnoticed. Erin couldn’t say anything because her community was so kind and thankful. She said, “It warms my heart to know that there are people out there who care.”

This story shows how powerful it can be when people work together to help those in need. It also reminds us that we never really know what someone else is going through or how much a small act of kindness can mean to them.
