The search for twin 13-year-old boys who went missing while swimming near Galveston, Texas’s Pleasure Pier has turned up a second body.
Officials say that the body of a young man was found near 47th and Seawall Boulevard at 1 a.m. on Thursday. When they got to the scene, they could see that the young man fit the description of the other mis-sing twin.
KHOU said the last time anyone saw the twins was around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday in about 20 yards of waist- to chest-high water in the ocean.
Even though no one could say for sure that they saw the boys go underwater, their family said they didn’t know how to swim.
“They were in the ocean. “The parents lost sight of them for a moment, and when they looked back up into the area, they didn’t see them,” Lt. Austin Kirwin of the Galveston Island Beach Patrol said.
Before calling 911, the twins Josue and Jefferson Perez’s family looked for them for about an hour.
The US Coast Guard was called in to help with search and rescue, but on Monday, fog kept them from flying their helicopter.
The search was taken over by the police in Galveston.
