Trisha Yearwood has been officially inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, with her close friend Don Henley having the honor of welcoming her into this esteemed group.

On October 17, 2023, Don Henley took the stage to celebrate the country music icon’s contributions to the recording industry. By handing Trisha her award, she joined the ranks of legends like B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, and Sheryl Crow.

Following Don’s speech, Trisha expressed her gratitude for his decades-long friendship and support. She then invited him to join her for her final performance of the evening.

“I can’t imagine being on this stage and being honored by Don Henley and not asking him if he would come up here and help me finish my portion of the show,” Trisha Yearwood said. “I try not to ask you to do too many things because you always say yes,” she added. “And I appreciate you very much.”

The duo then delivered an emotional rendition of “Walkaway Joe,” a song they originally recorded together in 1992, which earned a Grammy nomination in 1994 for Best Country Vocal Performance.

Trisha Yearwood was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside the late John Prine. The event, titled Austin City Limits 9th Annual Hall of Fame Honors Trisha Yearwood, aired on PBS on March 2nd.

“Did this night really happen?! To say I had the time of my life in Austin is an understatement,” Trisha wrote on Instagram after the event. “…And Don Henley, this honor will forever mean that much more because you welcomed me into the @acltv Hall of Fame. Appreciate you, my friend!”
