Reba McEntire openly shared that her initial encounter with boyfriend Rex Linn didn’t spark instant attraction. However, when they reconnected many years later, she found herself irresistibly drawn to him, likening it to a magnetic pull.
Their paths first crossed in 1991 during the filming of “The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw,” but with Reba married to Narvel Blackstock at the time, their interaction remained platonic.
Despite this, they maintained occasional contact over the years due to a mutual friend. It wasn’t until they coincidentally met again on the set of “Young Sheldon” just before the onset of COVID-19 that sparks began to fly.
According to Reba, their first date, as per her friend Melissa Peterman’s perspective, occurred during a group dinner after filming.
She described feeling inexplicably drawn to Rex that night, expressing her inability to be close enough to him. This special connection left a lasting impression on her, marking a significant turning point in their relationship.
Their bond deepened further when Rex affectionately dubbed Reba “Tater Tot” after they shared post-dinner drinks, a nickname that stuck.
In turn, Reba’s sister, Susie, reciprocated by affectionately naming Rex “Sugar Tot,” thus solidifying their unique bond as “The Tots.”
Reflecting on this newfound connection, Reba expressed profound joy in experiencing such magnetic attraction for the first time in her life, deeming it as “the greatest thing ever.”
