Hulda Erdman, a resident of Baptist Health and Rehab in Bismarck, North Dakota, celebrated her 106th birthday on July 6. Born in 1918, her life has always been rich with music and devotion.

When asked about the secret to her longevity, she replied, “My Lord has just made me that old. Singing in the choir and all that kind of stuff.”

Music plays a significant role in Erdman’s life. She taught herself to play the piano by watching her brother and plays entirely by ear. “That’s all in my head,” she said after playing a song on the piano.

Despite some arthritis, she remains healthy and enjoys her music. She joked, “My arms got tired. They said, ‘Enough is enough, Grandma!’”

Reflecting on her long life, Erdman expressed disbelief at how quickly the years have passed. For her, there’s no secret to longevity; it’s all about faith and music. “There is no secret. My Lord has just made me that old,” she said. Her love for music and involvement in the church choir have been sources of joy and energy.

At her residence, her piano playing is a source of delight. “I love music,” she said. Although her family and friends often tell her to take breaks, she loves to play.

Celebrating her 106th birthday, Erdman had no big plans. Her life is a testament to faith, resilience, and music.

May God continue to bless her with health and happiness.
