In addition to captivating audiences on “The Ellen Show” and performing at Carnegie Hall, piano prodigy Ryan Wang also gave a special private performance for Dorothy Landry, who is 101 years old.

This heartfelt event, organized by CBC Music, saw five-year-old Ryan play “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” specifically for Dorothy.

Due to a hearing issue, Dorothy had difficulty fully appreciating Ryan’s earlier performances, despite being a fan since he was three years old. The private concert was arranged to give her a more personalized and immersive experience.

Dorothy, seated in her wheelchair in a warm and inviting room, watched as Ryan, carrying a giant teddy bear, joyfully laughed and jumped. He expressed to “Grandma Dorothy” how much it meant to him to play for her.

A joyful smile spread across her face as she listened to his enchanting music. Overwhelmed with emotion, Dorothy called Ryan a “very special little person” and expressed her excitement for his future performances.

She highlighted their special bond and the universal language of music that connected them by asking him to visit her again after his trip to China.
