Nicolas Cage is spending time with his middle child. The 60-year-old actor was seen in Venice, Italy, on July 17, during a rare outing with his son, Kal-El Coppola.
The father-son duo strolled through the streets of the Italian city, with Cage dressed in a colorful matching shirt and shorts set, while his 18-year-old son wore a black T-shirt and black pants. Both were spotted wearing black sunglasses.
Cage shares Kal-El with his third wife, Alice Kim. The couple were together for 12 years before parting ways in January 2016.
In addition to Kal-El, Cage is father to son Weston Coppola, 33, from his relationship with Christina Fulton, and daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, born in September 2022 to Cage and his wife, Riko Shibata.
Kal-El’s name was inspired by Cage’s interest in Superman, as Kal-El is the superhero’s Kryptonian name. Cage was originally cast to play Superman in Tim Burton’s canceled movie.
In July 2021, Cage attended the Los Angeles premiere of his movie “Pig” with both of his sons. They posed together for a family photo.
Discussing his fictionalized character in “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” Cage emphasized that “there’s no version of Nick Cage in reality that doesn’t want to spend time with his children” and that he always prioritized family over career. He mentioned turning down roles in “Lord of the Rings” and “Matrix” to stay close to his son Weston.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Cage expressed his excitement about raising another child now that his sons are older, saying, “I miss going to the toy store, singing lullabies, and rocking in the rocking chair. I’m looking forward to getting back to that.”
