Kathie Lee Gifford, a cherished television personality adored by millions globally, recently faced some health challenges. She was hospitalized following a fall during her recovery from hip replacement surgery. The incident resulted in two fractures in her pelvis, complicating her ongoing recovery.
The fall occurred when Gifford overexerted herself while organizing books for a signing event in Nashville. The next day, she tripped while answering the door for friends. “It didn’t take much because I was weak in that spot,” Gifford noted about her fall. “The next thing you know, I am back in the hospital with a fractured pelvis, the front and the back. That’s more painful than anything I went through with the hip. The pelvis is unbelievably painful.”
Reflecting on her fall, Gifford said, “You think you know your body, and the next thing you know, your body changes when you get older. As much as I don’t wanna think about it, I am.”
Earlier this month, Gifford returned to the Today show, where she discussed her recovery from hip replacement surgery with Hoda Kotb while promoting her new novel, Herod and Mary: The True Story of the Tyrant King and the Mother of the Risen Savior. Gifford revealed that prior to her surgery, she was in “agonizing pain” and had “one of the worst hips” her doctor had ever seen. She mentioned that the surgery had taken place a month ago.
“My doctor finished the surgery, came in to tell me it went beautifully, and then said, ‘Kathie, how have you been existing all this time?’ He said, ‘It’s one of the worst hips I’ve ever seen.'”
Kotb remarked on Gifford’s active lifestyle, noting, “You’re always on the go. I never once saw you stop, even if you were in the car. I remember you’d be writing notes. Your brain, your body is always working.”
We send our warmest wishes to Kathie Lee Gifford for a speedy recovery from her injuries. Share this with others so they can extend their well wishes to Kathie too!
