In June 2022, Si Robertson, well-known from the reality TV series Duck Dynasty that aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017, revealed that he needed to undergo a serious lung surgery. The series depicted the lives of the Robertson family, who gained success through their family-run business, Duck Commander.

On his podcast Duck Call Room, Si discussed his declining health, which he attributed to contracting COVID-19 in 2021. He mentioned that his situation was dire, and there were moments when he didn’t believe he would survive.

Unfortunately, despite the severity of his condition, Si initially resisted medical treatment, refusing both hospital care and the medications prescribed to him.

Just as he began to feel better, Si faced further health challenges, this time with his lungs. During an episode of his podcast, he explained that while he could inhale easily, one of his lungs wasn’t exhaling properly. As a result, he was scheduled to have surgery to implant a device that would help his underperforming lung function correctly.

Si shared the news on Facebook, saying, “I had some tests in Houston. There are a few more things we have to do, but it looks like I’m approved for lung surgery. Then I’ll be able to talk your ears off with even more stories, all guaranteed to be 95% true!”

His fans responded with an outpouring of support and prayers for his recovery. One fan wrote, “Prayers for your surgery and a speedy recovery. May God bless you through all this. I hope your family keeps us updated on how you’re doing. You are one special gentleman.”

In September 2022, Uncle Si successfully underwent the surgery, much to the relief of his family, friends, and fans. He later posted on Instagram, saying, “The doc says surgery went great. I’m ready to get back at it, Jack! Thanks for all the prayers and support. It means the world to us,” alongside a photo of him in the hospital bed.

However, fans became concerned once again when, on May 27, Uncle Si posted a Memorial Day tribute video in which he appeared wearing an oxygen mask and speaking more slowly than usual. This prompted many to inquire about his health, with comments like, “What are you doing on oxygen? You doing alright, sir?” and “Thank you for your service, Si. Everything okay? You’re on oxygen.”

Some fans reassured others, noting that Si had been using oxygen intermittently for some time, likely due to his past smoking habits during his time in Vietnam. Others pointed out that he had even been seen using oxygen in a podcast episode three years ago.

In addition to his health concerns, fans also noticed that Si had changed his appearance, shaving the sides of his beard and sporting a new haircut.

We sincerely hope that Uncle Si experiences no further health issues.
