Five people have been arrested in connection with Matthew Perry’s overdose death, including Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who treated me just a month ago and made me feel uneasy.

Dr. Plasencia, 42, is one of the suspects charged by the Department of Justice after a lengthy investigation.

Journalist Katy Forrester revisited Malibu Canyon Urgent Care after the doctor's arrest

He faces charges for conspiring to illegally supply ketamine to Perry, who was found dead in his hot tub on October 28, 2023.

As a journalist covering Perry’s life and struggles, I was shocked to discover that Dr. Plasencia, known as “Dr. P,” had treated me.

Dr. Salvado R Plasencia did not have a receptionist at his walk-in clinic and appeared to run it himself

I had visited his Malibu Canyon Urgent Care clinic on July 20 with a possible kidney infection, and the experience left me feeling uncomfortable.

The clinic lacked a receptionist and seemed to be run by Dr. Plasencia himself, which felt odd. When I learned of his arrest, the unsettling nature of our interaction made me realize just how disturbing the situation was.

Matthew Perry is said to have relapsed late last year just days before his death

After the arrest, I returned to the clinic, which was closed with a handwritten note on the door. Local business owners nearby expressed surprise at the news, with some describing Dr. Plasencia as friendly, while others were unaware of the charges against him.

Dr. Plasencia is accused of distributing around 20 vials of ketamine to Perry between September and October 2023 for $55,000.

Investigators said they discovered a 'drugs emporium' at suspect Jasveen Sangha's home in North Hollywood

His charges include conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution of ketamine, and falsifying documents.

The federal indictment also includes other suspects: Jasveen Sangha, a drug dealer; Eric Fleming, a broker; Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s live-in assistant; and Dr. Mark Chavez. Each is accused of exploiting Perry’s addiction for financial gain.

Dr. Plasencia, who pleaded not guilty and was released on bail, is facing up to 120 years in prison. The case continues to unfold, and it highlights the tragic consequences of exploitation and addiction.
