Matthew Perry’s final moments have been revealed, showing his tragic last words to his assistant before his fatal ketamine overdose.
On October 28, last year, Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub at his LA home, having suffered from acute ketamine effects and drowning, as detailed in his autopsy.
According to court documents obtained by NBC News, Perry, who was 54, had requested his assistant Kenneth Iwamasa to “shoot him up with a big one,” indicating he had likely used ketamine earlier that day. This dose was administered just before Perry was found dead.
The documents show that on the day of his death, Perry had asked Iwamasa to give him his first ketamine shot around 8:30 AM, followed by another dose four hours later while watching a movie.
Perry then requested his assistant to prepare the jacuzzi and administer a third dose, which turned out to be the fatal one. Iwamasa left the mansion afterward, only to discover Perry’s body upon returning.
Charges have been filed against five individuals connected to Perry’s death, including Iwamasa, doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, broker Mark Fleming, and drug dealer Jasveen Sangha.
They are accused of exploiting Perry’s ketamine addiction for financial gain, with the doctors reportedly charging exorbitant prices for the drug.
Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety before becoming addicted.
The investigation revealed that the ketamine causing his death was not prescribed, and the levels found in his system were equivalent to those used for general anesthesia during surgery.
His death has been ruled accidental, with contributing factors including drowning and respiratory depression from the drug.
The news of Perry’s death shocked the entertainment world, with his Friends co-stars publicly mourning him. Matt LeBlanc, who played his best friend on the show, paid a heartfelt tribute, expressing his sadness and admiration for Perry.
