Jeff Bridges and his wife, Susan, have recently celebrated 48 years of marriage, and they attribute their enduring bond to a mix of love, resilience, and fun.
Jeff, now 74, and Susan met in 1975 while he was filming Rancho Deluxe and she was working as a waitress in Montana. They married on June 5, 1977.
Jeff recalls being captivated by Susan’s beauty despite her visible injuries from a previous incident. After initially being turned down by Susan, their romance blossomed at a film wrap party.
In a 2018 interview, Jeff shared his view on sustaining a long marriage: “Don’t get a divorce — that’s key. Meet the ups and downs as challenges and opportunities.” Susan adds, “Keep it fun,” with Jeff emphasizing the importance of joy and fun in their relationship.
Their shared philosophy is that challenges in a relationship are chances to deepen intimacy and understanding. Jeff and Susan’s commitment and ability to keep their relationship lively have been central to their nearly five decades together. They are parents to three daughters: Isabelle, 42, Jessica, 40, and Haley, 38.
