At least four people were killed and nine injured in a tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the suspect, a 14-year-old student, was taken into custody following reports of an active shooter at 10:20 a.m. today. Authorities later identified the shooter as Colt Gray, a student at the school.
Chris Hosey, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, stated that Gray will face murder charges and be prosecuted as an adult.
Hosey further revealed that the victims included two teachers and two students, identified as 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, and math teachers Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimie.
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith shared that emergency personnel responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m., with assistance from FBI agents from Atlanta. He declined to provide further details, noting that the investigation would take days.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both addressed the incident, expressing sorrow and frustration over yet another school shooting.
Biden lamented how gun violence continues to devastate communities, while Harris called the tragedy “senseless” and urged action to prevent further violence.
