Carol Howarth from Haverfordwest, UK, parked her car to do some shopping, only to return and find an entire swarm of bees covering the back of her vehicle.
Local resident Tom Moses was astonished by the sight: “It was quite a spectacle. When I arrived, there were already people taking photos, but I started to worry.
The car was parked right in front of a bar, and I was concerned someone might do something foolish, like pour hot water on them. It could have ended badly.” Tom quickly contacted a bee rescue group, and they managed to carefully collect the swarm into a box.
However, Carol’s relief was short-lived. The next day, she realized the bees had followed her home! This time, she had to call in the beekeepers.
Roger Burns, one of the beekeepers, explained, “We believe the queen was attracted to something in the car, likely something sweet, and got stuck in the vehicle’s plastic. Over 2,000 bees followed her and gathered on the car.”
Eventually, the beekeepers freed the queen, allowing her to return to her hive. They noted that while it’s common for bees to follow their queen, it was unusual for them to trail a car for two days straight!
