Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle has turned its annual homecoming rally into a spectacular tradition that stands out: a dance battle between teachers and cheerleaders! This unique event showcases the vibrant community spirit and camaraderie between students and staff.
Dating back to 1954, BBHS is known for its rich history and close-knit community. With an enrollment of about 950 students and a network of 16,000 alumni, the school embraces traditions that bring everyone together, and the homecoming rally is no exception.
The highlight of the rally is a lively performance choreographed to the 1988 hit Supersonic by J.J. Fad. The cheerleaders lead the charge with their high-energy routine, but what makes this event truly special is the participation of the teachers. Each cheerleader-teacher duo gets to perform their own unique dance, turning the gymnasium into a stage of fun, laughter, and sheer talent.
In a video from September 2022, 16 cheerleaders and 16 teachers take to the floor, delivering a memorable performance. The teachers, ranging from newcomers to seasoned educators, display a mix of boldness, humor, and surprising rhythm. With roughly two-thirds of the teachers being men, the group embraces the challenge with enthusiasm—some stepping confidently into the spotlight and others daringly pushing past their comfort zones.
This heartwarming and entertaining tradition highlights the strong bonds within the BBHS community, where everyone—from students to teachers—comes together to celebrate school spirit in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
