Security camera footage captured the heroic actions of Gatubela, a Siamese cat, who saved one-year-old Samuel Leon in Bogota, Colombia, on October 31. The incident began with Samuel crawling on the floor while Gatubela sat on the sofa, observing him. Though Samuel was not yet walking, he was curious about his surroundings, exploring the room with wonder.
The bright crib in the center of the room stood empty, but Samuel had wandered off, much to Gatubela’s concern. The perceptive cat followed him closely, understanding the potential danger in the little one’s exploration.
As Samuel crawled toward a door leading to a flight of stairs, Gatubela immediately sprang into action. At first, she tried to grab him by the nape of his neck, instinctively treating him like a kitten.
When she realized he wasn’t a kitten, she quickly moved in front of him and pushed him back. Positioning herself at the entrance, Gatubela blocked the path to prevent Samuel from falling down the stairs, saving him from a potential fall.
