It’s not always easy to stay silent when you witness someone being blatantly rude or disrespectful in public.
A woman recently took to TikTok to share an uncomfortable encounter she witnessed while dining at an Olive Garden one evening.
In her video, TikTok user @karragen recounted seeing a man being cruel to his own child at the restaurant.
She described the moment he told his child, “I hate how you talk. I hate your voice. Nobody can understand you.”
Shaken, she added, “That poor boy probably doesn’t even feel safe speaking. If this is how he treats him in a crowded restaurant, I can’t imagine what it’s like at home. It was absolutely awful and heartbreaking.”
Unfortunately, the man didn’t stop there—he soon turned his aggression toward their waitress.
Apparently, when the waitress pronounced “marinara” differently than he expected, he began mocking her over it.
“He kept going after her,” Karragen said. “She walked away, and the minute she was gone, he went right back to verbally attacking his son.”
Later, the man also lashed out over a simple mistake—he was furious that the server placed his plate in front of his daughter instead of him.
“He snapped, saying, ‘Technically, that’s mine. So why wasn’t it given to me directly?’” she explained.
Despite the upsetting experience, the TikTokker clarified, “I’ve always loved Olive Garden. This was the only time I’ve had anything even close to a bad experience there.”
In the video caption, she added, “I actually spoke up as I was leaving. I was honestly surprised he didn’t follow me out—thankfully, we were parked right by the entrance!”
Here’s the video:
@karragen Said something on my way out, actually shocked he didn’t follow me out but VERY thankful we were parked close to the doors! #storytime #olivegarden #narcissist ♬ original sound – Karragen

And one TikTokker could sadly relate all too well.
Restaurant workers witness situations like this more often than you’d think—truly disheartening.
