An 11-year-old girl has become the youngest mother in UK history after giving birth earlier this month — with her family reportedly unaware she was even pregnant, according to The Sun.
Both the young mother and her baby are said to be healthy. Authorities are now investigating how the pregnancy managed to go unnoticed for so long.
“It was a huge shock,” a source shared. “She’s now receiving support from a team of professionals. The most important thing is that both she and the baby are doing well.”
Previously, the record for the UK’s youngest mother was held by Tressa Middleton, who gave birth at age 12 in 2006. In 2014, a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy became the country’s youngest known parents.
