The Academy Award-winning actress recently opened up about the chatter surrounding her Met Gala hairstyle—and revealed some unexpected insights into her ever-evolving hair choices.
Appearing on Australia’s Channel Seven morning show Sunrise, Nicole Kidman addressed rumors about the dramatic hairstyle she wore to the Met Gala earlier this month. At 57, the actress set the record straight on whether the striking cut was real, while also shedding light on another transformation she recently underwent.

In the interview, Kidman reflected on her Met Gala look, where she appeared with a bold, two-tone pixie cut featuring a side part and sweeping bangs.
Many fans speculated it was a wig—and they were right. “Everyone’s asking, ‘Did you really cut your hair off?’ I’m like, ‘Nope, I didn’t,’” she laughed.
Famous for constantly reinventing her hair for roles on screen, Kidman also spoke about the makeover she embraced for season two of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, which premiered on May 21.

In the new season, her character, Masha Dmitrichenko, returns with an icy blonde bob and edgy blunt bangs. According to Kidman, the transformation was necessary for the character’s growth. “She had to come in and say, ‘Here I am,’” Kidman explained, adding that she personally loves switching up hairstyles.
Seated next to her, co-star Murray Bartlett praised her dramatic new look as “epic,” saying it drew audible gasps when she first arrived on set. Kidman chimed in with a grin, “[She’s] walking in like a boss.”
Off camera, however, Kidman gave fans a more intimate look at her real hair during a recent getaway to the French Riviera.

In a relaxed Instagram post captioned “❤️ Côte d’Azur,” she appeared windswept and carefree, with her natural hair on full display. In several photos, she even embraced her signature curls once again.
