The family of reality TV star Phil Robertson shared the news of his passing on Sunday, May 25, through several social media posts. This announcement came months after they first revealed in December that Phil had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, honored his father in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “My dad went to be with the Lord today! While we’ll miss him deeply, we find peace knowing he’s in good hands. God has been so good to our family. We’ll be reunited one day!” Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, also marked the loss with a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing nostalgic photos of their well-known family over the years.

In a shared Instagram tribute, Phil’s son Willie Robertson and daughter-in-law Korie Robertson wrote, “Today we celebrate that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.” They added, “Thank you to everyone who has lifted us up in love and prayer. Phil touched many lives, and we’re so grateful for the support. While we’re holding a private service for now, we’ll announce details of a public celebration of his life soon.”

Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis was first mentioned on the December 6 episode of Unashamed with the Robertson Family, their family podcast. Jase explained then that Phil was in the early stages of the disease. As time went on, his condition worsened.

“It progressed quickly and began affecting his whole body,” Jase said, noting that his father was facing serious health challenges.

In an update during the April 2 podcast episode, Jase shared that Phil’s health was declining. “He’s not doing well,” he said. “We’re making him as comfortable as possible and doing everything we can. That’s all anyone can do.”

Phil Robertson rose to fame as the patriarch on Duck Dynasty, the A&E reality series that followed the Robertson family and their business, Duck Commander. The show featured Phil, his wife Kay, and three of their sons—Jase, Willie, and Jep—along with several grandchildren and company employees. The series aired for 11 seasons before ending in 2017 but led to several spinoffs, including Going Si-Ral, Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, At Home with the Robertsons, and Duck Family Treasure. In January, A&E announced the series would return under a new title, Duck Dynasty: The Revival.

Since the original series concluded, the Robertson family has continued to grow, with many of the younger members starting families of their own.

Phil, originally from Louisiana, founded Duck Commander in 1972 and became known for his patented duck call that launched the company’s success. He married his wife, Kay, when she was 17 and pregnant with their first child.
