My MIL Secretly Replaced My Kids’ Meals with Her Own—Now They’re Sick and Undernourished
My mother-in-law is a strict vegan and completely fixated on “clean” eating. Since my husband and I work full-time, she often helps out by babysitting our children. While we respect her dietary choices, the rest of us—including our kids—are not vegan. Our children enjoy meat, and I always make sure to prepare well-balanced meals in advance so she doesn’t need to cook when watching them.

Recently, though, I began noticing troubling signs. Our kids were frequently complaining of headaches and often threw up after meals. Concerned, I took them to the doctor—and the results were deeply upsetting. Both were underweight and suffering from multiple nutritional deficiencies.

Then came the shock that changed everything.

One day, I came home earlier than usual and caught my MIL in the act—she was throwing away the meals I had prepared. She had been feeding the kids only her own ultra-strict vegan dishes, which didn’t even include essentials like salt or cooking oil. No wonder the kids were refusing to eat!

I immediately confronted her and banned her from babysitting. She’s now calling me “ungrateful” and acting as if I overreacted.

But from where I stand, this wasn’t just a matter of dietary preference—it was about my children’s health and well-being. And that comes first, always.
