Francesca Esdon is a devoted mother to her five-year-old son, Kyler. Every day, she makes sure he knows just how deeply she loves him — to the moon and back. One morning, before dropping Kyler off at the Rocking Horse Daycare Center in Texas, Francesca tucked a heartfelt note inside his lunchbox. The note asked the daycare staff to remind Kyler that his mom was thinking of him and that she loved him very much.

However, the response Francesca found later left her shocked and heartbroken. Kyler’s teacher had written a comment on the note — but it wasn’t kind. In bold black ink, the teacher scrawled: “No, put him on a diet and go away!”

When Francesca picked up Kyler and read the message, she was stunned and hurt. She couldn’t believe a teacher entrusted with caring for children could be so disrespectful. The very next day, Francesca met with the daycare principal to express how deeply the teacher’s remark affected her. During the meeting, she also brought attention to the teacher’s public Facebook profile, which contained inappropriate references to drugs, alcohol, and other troubling content.

The daycare took swift action, and the teacher was dismissed. Yet, Francesca never received an apology for the cruel note. Feeling unsafe and unwilling to risk her son’s well-being, she made the difficult decision to enroll Kyler in a different daycare.

Francesca shared her story with ABC7 News, standing up not just for her son, but for all children who deserve respect and care from those who watch over them. You can watch more about her experience and reaction to the spiteful note in the video below.
