Hello, Now I’ve Seen Everything. My husband and I have shared three wonderful years of marriage, but two weeks ago, he was in an accident that left him in a coma. Last night, while going through his belongings to feel closer to him, I found a hidden diary in his bedside drawer. Out of longing and curiosity, I began to read it — but what I uncovered broke my heart completely.
In the diary, he wrote about a woman who wasn’t me. He described the excitement and fear he felt every time he saw her. “Whenever I see her, my heart skips a beat,” he wrote. “I remember the nights we shared, trying to hide my feelings from my wife beside me, afraid she’ll find out.”
As I read further, I realized to my horror that the woman he was talking about was my mother. She and my husband had been involved after her divorce from my father, and they had kept it a secret from me all this time. The revelation crushed me, leaving me in shock and deep pain.
Then came another devastating entry. He had written, “I know it’s wrong, but I can’t stop thinking that I made a mistake. She’s the one I should have chosen, but it’s too late now.”
Now, I’m completely torn apart. My husband lies unconscious in the hospital, and my mother is still very close to me. I don’t know how to face her or what to do next. I feel betrayed, heartbroken, and lost — and I wish I had never opened that diary. Any advice on how to move forward would mean so much.
