Mark Benton had purchased an old farm with the intention of tearing it down. He was mainly interested in the land itself. But before the demolition work began, he decided to take a look inside the barn sitting on the edge of the property.

When he pulled open the creaking doors, Mark was stunned. Sitting inside was one of the world’s most valuable vintage cars—a model produced in 1959. That was the year Jaguar released the rare Mark 2 sedan, a vehicle created to attract a new kind of buyer.

The Mark 2 came equipped with the powerful engine from the Jaguar XK sports car, making it one of the fastest sedans of its era. Designers combined an elegant, distinguished body with impressive performance, creating a truly remarkable machine.

Although a number of Mark 2 sedans were produced, most of them remained in England. So Mark was shocked to find such a rare Jaguar hidden away on an abandoned farm in Iowa—a place even locals consider far removed from cultural hotspots. Despite being stored in a wooden shed for decades, the car is in surprisingly good condition.

Inside the glove compartment, Mark even found old registration papers showing the vehicle was last licensed in 1983. Now, the classic Jaguar is set to go up for auction, where it’s expected to fetch at least several hundred thousand dollars.
