Never go to bed angry with each other is advice we recall one couple giving us, and it resonated with us. Of course, the best advice for young marriages is to build trust and communicate.
But for commemorating 82 years of marriage, one North Carolina couple deserves all the acclaim and gratitude. Additionally, the pair celebrated their respective 103rd and 100th birthdays, which were separated by seven days.
And their straightforward method for having a long and fulfilling marriage.
In a Charlotte church, D.V. Williams, 103, and Willie Williams, 100, celebrated their birthdays and anniversaries while chanting with friends and family. They undoubtedly deserved the celebration.
One couple talked about their long marriage, which lasted through the Civil Rights movement and the Great Depression, and revealed the secret to lasting love: compassion.
Their granddaughter BJ Williams-Green remarked, “Seeing them at this age and so well is still good; it’s just a blessing they’re still here.”
The couple is now within touching distance of being the oldest married couple in the Guinness Book of Records. Miyako Matsumoto, who is 100 years old, and her 108-year-old spouse Masau Matsumoto of Japan currently hold the record.
The Japanese pair attributes the woman’s forbearance to their lengthy marriage.
However, D.V. and Willie said that their success was not due to any special secret; Willie Williams said, “Just be kind to one other.”
We adore receiving news like this. Greetings to the contented and responsible couple.
What a triumph for the kind couple; it goes without saying that having a decent heart is the secret to a long and happy life.
