When I see someone who should be retired but is still working, it breaks my heart. People in their 80s should be able to put their feet up and enjoy life for the rest of their lives.

But not everyone has the good fortune to be able to retire. But there are also kind angels who see something wrong and do everything they can to fix it… So, this is a story.

Rory McCarty was shopping at his local Walmart when he saw a worker named Butch who was 82 years old. When he first meets Butch, he asks the veteran if he knows about the trend of young people using their TikTok popularity to help older Walmart workers retire.

He talks about how she helped an elderly Walmart worker and raised $100,000 for her. He also talks about how she helped another 82-year-old Walmart worker and raised $50,000 in four days for her.

When he hears this, the Navy veteran who served for 10 years looks surprised and says, “Well, I’ll be damned.”

McCarty then asks him, “Now, let’s say someone raised that money for you.”

But it turns out that Butch doesn’t have to imagine any of it! The McCarty decided to raise money for the old worker because it was obvious that he needed it. He was able to get about $50,000 in less than 24 hours. So far, more than $100,000 has been raised.

Rory McCarty wrote in the GoFundMe page’s description that Butch was a nice guy and that he wanted to help him. He wrote, “The other day I was shopping at Walmart and an 82-year-old man named Butch helped me.”

Continuing, he said, “As a business owner, I know how hard it is to find good help for my business. I couldn’t believe that this little old man was still grinding. Having shifts of eight to nine hours. On TikTok, I recently saw a GoFundMe for an 82-year-old woman who worked at Walmart. They raised enough money for her to retire for good.

McCarty wrote, “I wanted to help this Navy veteran see his kids in Florida for the rest of his life. Put him to bed for 8 hours at a time. And do the things he wants to do but might not be able to because of money.”

“Butch will get every penny. “I will give Warren Marion (Butch) a cashier’s check for the full amount, less the GoFundMe fee, and give it to him in person,” he promised.

People in the TikTok comments were all convinced right away to help. They actually begged McCarty to help Butch out by setting up a GoFundMe account. Everyone agreed that he needed to stop working.

McCarty even got Butch’s reaction to the fundraiser on tape later. He gives McCarty a hug and says thank you to him and everyone else who is helping. The 82-year-old says on camera, “How did I get so lucky?”

When asked what he would do with the money, he said, “I’d see my kids, do some work around the house, and enjoy the last 10 or 12 years I have.”

Since he was 11 years old, Butch has had a job. McCarty said he would help him get up.
