Hargitay and Peter Hermann have been married for almost 18 years. They fell in love right away. Christopher Melani, who was also on the show and worked with Hargitay, remembers how the happy love story began.
Hermann was a guest on the show, and as soon as Hargitay saw him, she fell in love with him. She tried to deny that she liked Hermann, but anyone who watched her could see that she did. Soon after that, they started going out together.
They went to church together, and while the pastor was talking, Hargitay started crying because she suddenly realized that Hermann would be the man she would marry. She was so happy to have met her future husband that it made her cry.
The two started going out together and even talked about getting married. But after dating for a while, they decided it wasn’t going to work. Hargitay said that both of them had cried while they talked.
Still, they were able to work out their problems and get back together. On Hargitay’s 40th birthday, Hermann realized he wanted to marry her.
In Santa Barbara, California, on August 28, 2004, the two people got married.
The couple knew they wanted a family, so about two years after they got married, they were thrilled to find out that they were going to have a child.
Unfortunately, the time of pregnancy was not easy. By the third trimester, Hargitay had gained a lot of weight and had developed gestational diabetes as a result. On June 28, 2006, they had their first child, a son named August. Even though she had trouble getting pregnant and giving birth, Hargitay was very happy to be a mother.
After a few years, they adopted a daughter, Amaya Josephine. Six months later, they adopted a son, Andrew.
Hargitay says that being a parent has been rewarding, but she also says that it hasn’t always been easy. She also said that she had to learn how to balance her work life with her family life.
After being married for about 20 years, the couple has become known as one of Hollywood’s most forward-thinking couples.
Hermann said that a long-lasting marriage has no secret. He added that this doesn’t mean they’re easy, but it also doesn’t mean they’re hard. He said that it all comes down to simple things like being kind, listening well, and fighting in a fair way.
