Adriana Iliescu, a Romanian educator, garnered global attention for achieving an extraordinary milestone: becoming a mother at the remarkable age of 67.

Her extraordinary accomplishment earned her a spot in the Guinness Book of Records, not only as the oldest mother in Romania but also, at the time, the oldest mother globally.

Now, at 80 years old, Adriana remains resolute in her commitment to her personal development while also ensuring her daughter’s well-being until she reaches adulthood.

She currently lives in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, in her two-bedroom apartment. In an interview, she expressed that she has found newfound happiness since welcoming her daughter, Eliza, into the world.

Adriana’s pregnancy was made possible through in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and she welcomed her daughter into the world in January 2005. However, she faced criticism and opposition from some of her friends, who accused her of selfishness.

At her daughter’s christening, the nuns derogatorily referred to the baby as a “thing of darkness,” expressing their disapproval. Despite these remarks, Adriana remained undeterred. After careful consideration, she chose Dr. Bogdan Marinescu, the doctor who had assisted her in the conception process, as her daughter’s guardian.

To ensure her daughter’s future, Adriana also made financial arrangements, setting up funds in an account. Alongside her extraordinary journey as a mother, Adriana Iliescu is a successful children’s author and a teacher of the Romanian language.

Having achieved notable success in her literary pursuits, Adriana has authored over 25 books. Presently, she wholeheartedly embraces her role as a mother, caring for her 14-year-old daughter, who shows a natural aptitude for exact sciences.
